Turnitin välitarkastukset

JAMKissa Urkundin tilalle tekstin alkuperäisyyden tarkistamisen työkaluksi on käyttöönotettu Turnitin Similarity -palvelu vuoden 2021 alusta alkaen. Palvelu toimii sekä Teams- että Moodle-ympäristössä erilaisten tehtävien palautuksien yhteydessä. Kunkin opintojakson osalta saat lisätietoa toteutuksesta vastaavalta opettajalta.

Opinnäytetyössä on käytössä ohjausprosessin aikaiset työtilat sekä välivaiheiden tarkastusta, että lopullista työtä varten.

Plagiarism prevention Turnitin Similarity – plagiarism checker

JAMK uses the Turnitin Similarity plagiarism checker tool. It searches for any similarities with material published on the internet, hundreds of millions of books and the other documents inspected with the system. Turnitin Similarity will also recognise a similarity in cases where the text has been edited by adding, removing or altering some of the words.

Final Thesis will be send automatically to the Turnitin Similarity checker immediately it has been uploaded to the Moodle return box.

Using Turnitin:

When you use Turnitin for the first time you need to accept EULA, End-User Licence Agreement. Licence Agreement will open through a link (blue button). Without accepting the agreement plagiarism check cannot be done.

Processing time for your file takes approximately 10min. Status is shows as “Queued”.

After the check is complete you can click the percentage value next to Turnitin icon. The Similarity Report is the result of comparison between the text of the submission against the search targets selected for the assignment; this may include billions of pages of active and archived internet information, a repository of works previously submitted to Turnitin, and a repository of tens of thousands of periodicals, journals, and publications. Any matching or highly similar text discovered is detailed in the Similarity Report that is available in the assignment inbox. The similarity score is a percentage of a paper's content that matches to Turnitin's databases; it is not an assessment of whether the paper includes plagiarized material.
